Monday Morning News
Here is the only mention of Ramadi in the news today, from an Iraqi news organization:

Other incidents
Elsewhere, a roadside bomb detonated in the city of Ramadi, killing two Iraqis. "Two people were killed and six others injured in a bomb blast... in the west of the city," said Atallah Dlimi, a police lieutenant in Ramadi, AFP.
I did hear from another person who has a loved one in Ramadi (different unit) who said that the phone lines had been shut down for a few days so that families of wounded could be contacted.

Hey Rory!!
This is Jeanie Mahoney! (Jean Mahoney Oliver) I shipped off a care package to you today. I started sending packages to my cousin's son - who was deployed at the begining of the war-- and have just kept on sending packages to Robbie's buddies, etc-- and then to total strangers (I was put in touch with a Marine's mom, and she sent me names/addresses.) I think there might be a better infrustructure there in Iraq now to address needs of the troops-- but a package from home never hurts!!
I guess I really wish you weren't in Iraq, but since you ARE-- I'm very happy to support people I know. Please let me know what you WANT sent, OK? I will keep sending packages-- and it makes no sense to send things you don't want!! Batteries--what size?? MagLite flashlight bulbs-- what size? (My cousin Robbie asked for these...) About the only thing I wouldn't want to send is... ciagarettes (SO AGAINST them-- but if you do want them... **sigh** let me know, OK? because I will send them... ) I'd even send PORN, but that's not allowed!! ;-)
FYI-- I grew up with your dad's family, vacations to Manistique-- etc. There was a Mahoney-Sherony kid
pretty well matched up-- age wise-- all the way down to me. My brother Dan and your uncle Keith, my sister, Mary Pat and your Aunt Kate, my sister Maureen (Mickey Joy's mom) was good friends with both your dad and your Aunt Marsha. Growing up, I was three years younger than Marsha-- which when you are young is a big age gap.
I love both your grandma and your grandfather. And love your mom and dad!!
So, sweetie!! KEEP your head down-- please be safe-- know you are in my thoughts and prayers-- and please let me know what you want/need.
Jeanie

Hi Rory- It's Mo Mahoney Joy. When your Grandmother Dolo told me you were in the army and going to Iraq I was so very shocked, scared, in awe (of you),saying prayers and sending all my love to you, your parents, sister and entire family.
It seems like yesterday you and Mickey were trashing Emmy's room...while your Dad and Wally were enjoying a few brews during the Cubs game and your Mom and I were shopping!
It's been a few years since we last met. But that adorable brown eyed boy lingers in my heart and memories! Now you are defending our freedoms and the lives of many. Oh Rory...take good care of yourself. I am proud to know you. God speed.
With lots of love,
Mo Joy and family

PS To All the Sheronys...my love, thoughts and prayers are with you all, too! How did our "babies" grow so quickly??
